Why You Can Let the Royal Genie Do It on Royal Caribbean

Royal Caribbean's Royal Genie service is one of the most over-the-top VIP perks in cruising — here's why it's worth letting them handle everything:

What Is a Royal Genie?

The Royal Genie is a resource available to guests who purchase Royal Genie services. Royal Genies help create personalized VIP experiences tailored to each guest's exact tastes. Unlike a standard concierge desk, where you request things, the Royal Genie proactively curates your entire journey, operating like a hybrid of private butler, travel agent, event planner, and insider — often anticipating needs before they are requested.

They Start Before You Even Board

About six weeks to a month before departure, guests receive a questionnaire asking things like "What is your perfect day when relaxing?" and "Given the choice of anyone in the world, who would you most like to have dinner with?" The goal is to understand guests' personalities, likes, and dislikes — and gain hints for what can surprise or delight them.

What They Handle Onboard

A Royal Genie is essentially a revamped concierge with extensive empowerment for preferred seating for dining, show seating, shopping, or any activity that can be done on board. Rather than having a desk, they are very mobile — instead of the guests finding them, they find the guests.

They'll do almost anything to ensure you have a better cruise — including having the IT department come to your cabin when the internet signal is weak, or signing your kids up for ice skating by skipping the line and sign-up process entirely.

They Handle Problems Too

If any issue should develop, the Royal Genie will run interference and seek solutions — heading to guest services, the purser's desk, food and beverage, housekeeping, or whatever department is needed. Star-Class guests are a top priority with crew members, who will drop everything to fulfill requests.

Creative, Personal Touches

One family with three children was staying in the Family Presidential Suite. Their little girl was celebrating a birthday and loved cats, so the Genie created cat posters to decorate the suite inside and out — including one on the door with a humorous birthday message that the whole family loved.

Who Gets a Royal Genie?

Royal Genies are included with Star Class suites, which are the highest-tiered suites on Royal Caribbean's Quantum and Oasis class cruise ships. Royal Caribbean has also expanded by selling the Royal Genie service as a standalone package on some older ships, so it can now be booked with any stateroom on certain sailings.

The bottom line: any food or drink you would normally get yourself should simply be requested through the Royal Genie. It might seem minor, but it means spending your cruise doing more of what you love and less time waiting in lines or dealing with crowds. That's the whole point — hand it off and enjoy.
